The hardest question for me to answer in this world is always the "Tell us all about you" question. The best way for me to answer is that "I am composed of contradictions and subject to change without notice."

Personality Profiles

I just took the PersonalDNA personality profile. I have taken quite a few personality profiles in my day: some for work, some for school, and some just for fun. I used to keep all the test results to one day compare them (and I may still yet). My biggest question about personality profiles has always been; how can a personality be accurately measured when it is always moving and changing - and the act of measuring it in itself can change the personality? Wouldn't it be like trying to determine the length and width of a cloud? And yet, I still take the tests to see what they determine my personality to be is at least for that moment in time.

Feel free to access my personality. It will make you take the test before you can see my report, but then you can compare the two later.

Comments are more than welcome as to your results.

My own little crush

I am going to admit to a small obsession with Ashley Judd. I just can't help it. She is a very attractive woman AND she can actually act. Granted - she hasn't always chosen the best of movies to be involved in (The Passion of Darkly Noon comes to mind), but I have watched almost all of them anyway.

Here are the movies of her's that I have seen:
  • De-Lovely
  • Twisted
  • Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
  • High Crimes
  • Where the Heart Is
  • Double Jeopardy
  • Eye of the Beyholder
  • Kiss the Girls
  • The Passion of Darkly Noon
  • Ruby in Paradise
Now for the movies I haven't seen:
  • Frida
  • Someone Like You
  • Our Friend, Martin
  • Simon Burch
  • The Locusts
  • Normal Life
  • A Time to Kill
  • Heat
  • Smoke

One More Sheepskin -- so now what

Woo Hoo!! I have finally finished my Master's program. I am an official, card carrying M.B.A. Which means: I now no longer know how to operate any type of heavy equipment, my skills are completely useless to at least half the employement opportunities out there, and that I now have explain what MBA stands for for the rest of my life.

I did learn that there are certain social circles that think highly of having an MBA degree: Professional Poker Players, Sanitation Engineers (although they are paid much, much better), and Parents.

Was it worth it? Was it worth all the hours and minutes and days that went into that tiny piece of sheepskin? Was it worth the student loan that I will now have to start paying back? I'll let you know in a few years.

Shame in the fridge...

I remember way back when I was living in a house with several roommates. Most everyone was in college and would come and go all the time. People would move in and out just about every sememster. Well, I had been living there long enough to see many people come and go. Inside this house, like most houses, there was a refrigerator which I almost never used because of the smell. One day I got it into my head to clean the refrigerator - I was kind of a clean freak then, but I got over it. The refrigerator was almost older than dirt and certainly hadn't been cleaned in several years.

I got out all the necessary fridge cleaning ingredients: hot water, baking soda, and vinegar. There was supposed to be some house rule that everything needed a label in the fridge or it was fair game, but no one really ever labeled anything. The first thing I did was start to remove everything. I take everything out of the door - checking for expiration dates and pitching anything older than me into the trash. I then start removing all item from the shelves with the same criteria for whether or not to trash it. The minute I opened the crisper, I regretted my idea to clean the refrigerator. A small creature of some kind had somehow gotten itself (or was placed) into the crisper and died.

This is the point where the fridge cleaning plan changed. Everything in the refrigerator and freezer was promptly removed, all surfaces were scrubbed with bleach, wiped down with hot water, put back together, and never touched (by me) again.

Have you ever found something in your refrigerator that was just too horrible to be identified?

Four Things

No two ways about it…

I was tagged not too far back with the request for Four Things. I didn’t fall victim to it at the time. But when I came across it again while cleaning out my email, I decided that it would make for some interesting reading for those few who actually read my blog. However, some of the questions needed re-written and others needed to be added. So I have made some changes to the list for the sake of change.

Four interesting jobs I’ve had….

I have had many interesting jobs in my time. These are in no particular order.

  1. Flagger – standing in the middle of a street fending cars off with a stick while wearing a bright orange shirt
  2. Car Wash Manager – babysitting teenagers while they wash cars
  3. Bowling Alley Attendant – babysitting alcoholics
  4. Novelty Salesperson – a recession-proof business

Four movies I can watch over and over…
Whenever I am in a bad mood or I am particularly bored. I put one of these movies in and it always makes me everything better.

  1. Galaxy Quest – I laugh my ass off every time I watch this movie
  2. Disney’s Aladdin – Robin Williams is hilarious as the genie
  3. Harry Potter – all of these movies are worth watching repeatedly
  4. Labyrinth – I’ve watched this about a million times and it is still good

Four places I’ve lived…
I have moved quite a bit in my lifetime, but it has mostly stayed within these four states.

  1. Oklahoma
  2. Utah
  3. Idaho
  4. California

Four TV shows I love….
I never really used to watch too much television. I prefered movies to tv, but these shows had me glued to the television (or at least very aware of my Tivo settings).

  1. Will & Grace
  2. The L Word
  3. Queer as Folk
  4. Commander in Chief

Four highly recommended TV shows that I’ve never watched….
These shows are talked about over and over again with people I know and people I don't know and they tell me to watch them. I've seen part of each one and promptly turned the channel.

  1. Survivor
  2. American Idol
  3. Desperate Housewives
  4. America's Next Top Model

Four movies that I’ve never seen, but heard about all my life….
I haven't avoided these movies, I just haven't gone out of my way to watch them.

  1. Titanic
  2. Gone With the Wind
  3. Easy Rider
  4. Doctor Zhivago

Four places I’ve vacationed
I actually don't get to go on vacation very often and when I do - I generally choose to go to land of lost wages. However, I have been on a few trips to places far, far, away.

  1. Las Vegas, NV
  2. Dallas, TX
  3. Puerto Vallarta - Mexico
  4. Calgary, Ontario – Canada

Four places I want to vacation….
See last post as to where I generally choose to go, but I would like to go to these sometime in my life.

  1. Australia
  2. France
  3. New Zealand
  4. England

Four of my favorite dishes…
My first time through this list, it ended up being all desserts. However, I did think of a couple of food items that I do like.

  1. Chicken lo-mein
  2. Spumoni
  3. Any pasta with sauce
  4. Crème Brule

Four sites I visit daily (almost daily) ….
I read several blogs and have many sites that I like to check regularly. So I had to think of this question as what sites do I look at when I have very limited time.

  1. http://boingboing.net/
  2. http://flickr.com/
  3. http://dooce.com/
  4. http://www.neatorama.com/

Four places I would rather be right now….
For reference, I am sitting in front of my computer as I do just about every day.

  1. Hanging out with friends at Starbucks
  2. Roller-blading around the lake
  3. Painting in the park
  4. At the movies with my sweetheart

The four five* best movies I have ever seen….
I had to add an extra one because I couldn't bring myself to bump any of them from my list. This list definitely shows my true colors.

  1. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
  2. Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  4. Blade Runner
  5. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial

*There are also plenty more for me to add to this list.

Four items that I would need if I were stranded on a desert island…..
If I were ever stranded on a desert island (i.e. Survivor, Lost) these would be the items I would like to have with me.

  1. iPod (with solar power battery) – I need noise at almost all times
  2. Twinkies – because they have no expiration dates
  3. Magnifying glass or hand mirror – for starting fires
  4. Pocket knife – possibly the Swiss army kind with everything on it

Four songs that get stuck in my head…..(whether or not I like them to)
Just working on it stuck these into my head. However, I did discover that when you have one annoying song stuck in your head, you can get it to go away by getting a different annoying song stuck in your head.

  1. “My Name is Luca” by Suzanne Vega
  2. “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin
  3. “The Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats
  4. “Louie Louie” by The Kingsmen

Four songs I love…
My taste in much are very widespread.

  1. “Not Gonna Get Us” by t. A. T. u.
  2. “Hard to Handle” by The Black Crowes
  3. “Switch” by Will Smith
  4. “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon

Four words to describe myself….

  1. Logical
  2. Sarcastic
  3. Inconsistent
  4. Selective

Four actors/actresses I love….
I have seen every movie the first one on the list has been in - even when they were painful to watch.

  1. Ashley Judd
  2. Jennifer Connelly
  3. Vin Diesel
  4. Will Smith

Four mixed drinks I enjoy….
Recipes provided later...

  1. Long Island Iced Tea
  2. Raspberry Brownie
  3. Watermelon Margarita
  4. Chocolate Martini
